Taking part in a Blog Tour?
Please read our Guidelines first 👉
Thank you for being part of The Book Network. We hope to bring attention to some amazing books while putting on exciting and successful blog tours.
What is a Blog Tour?
A blog tour aims to promote an author's book virtually via reviews on blogs and across all social media channels including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.Some blog tours will include bloggers posting about a book across different platforms, while other tours will be specific to a certain platform. For example, some of our authors request for a blog tour on Instagram only. The dates for a tour are set in advance; each book blogger or bookstagrammer will feature either a book review or a content feature.
2. How do blog tours work?
When you first sign-up to The Book Network we give the option to be part of blog tours. Depending on where you review books and what genres you are interested in we will send you an email updating you about an upcoming tour that might be of interest. Once we reach the blog tour limit we’ll send an email with the tour schedule.
Each tour gets a dedicated shared folder containing all the information you need to know about that tour.
The following are requirements to be part of a TBN Blog Tour
You must have one of the following: a blog/website, Bookstagram, Twitter or Book TikTok account in order to participate in the tours.
On the day of the tour, we’d like you to post your review between
5-7pm (UK Time).
This gives maximum exposure to our authors and their books. If you are unable to post at this time, we’d ask that you try and get your review online as close to this time as possible.
If for some reason your review would be below a 3 (out of 5), we would appreciate it if you would simply post a picture of the book and the book synopsis instead.
Alternatively, we can provide you with an extract from the book to post.
OR
We politely ask that if you did not enjoy a book, to let us know that you would not like to participate in the tour so we can find somebody to fill the position.
If you feel you are unable to meet the agreed date for posting your review, please let us know at least 10 days in advance.
We encourage and welcome bloggers' artistic freedom. However, please include the following with your TBN Tour Post:
The blog tour banner
Link to the tour schedule
Book Cover
Book Synopsis
Book Purchase Links
If you review, a rating of some sort.
Review or promotional material for your stop.
Author bio and working URL links to the author’s website and social media pages (if applicable).
3. What do you expect from my book review?
You can have creative freedom with your review.
Typically, reviewers will tell us a little bit about the book, what they liked about it, which characters they liked, what they liked about the writing. How did the book make them feel? Would they recommend the book? Would they like a sequel?
As we are a promotional service to give authors and their books a much-needed boost, we ask that if you have nothing good to say about the book, then we can find an alternative for you to post a synopsis or extract (see above).
4. Would you like me to post my review elsewhere?
We ask that bloggers review the book on social media and also copy the review on Goodreads and Amazon. This is all to help promote new, up-and-coming authors who need as much publicity as they can get!
5. What happens if I don’t get the book on time?
Once you agree to participate in a blog tour, we will pass on your postal address to the publisher so they can arrange a book to come out to you.
We ask that you send us a quick email to confirm receipt of the book. If we don’t hear from you, the blog tour organizer will contact you 3-4 weeks prior to the tour to see if you’ve received the book.
Feel free to contact us if you don’t receive the book at least three weeks before you’re to review it.
6. Can I reschedule my tour stop or cancel if something prevents me from participating in the tour?
In order to reschedule or cancel your involvement in the tour, we will need as much notice as possible. Ideally 14+ days. If we cannot manage to find a replacement for you, we kindly ask that you could post about the book with the synopsis or extract attached.
7. What happens if I don't publish my post on my assigned day?
If for whatever reason you are going to be unable to post about the book on your assigned day, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible in order for us to come up with a solution.
8. What happens if I don’t like the book or if my rating is below 3 stars?
We will never force anyone to promote a book that they did not like or do not feel comfortable sharing with their readers. If this happens, we politely ask that you email us to let us know that you did not enjoy the book and the reason why so we can find another alternative.
If for some reason your review would be below a 3 stars (out of five) we would appreciate it if you would simply post a picture of the book and the book synopsis or an extract from the book instead. Our blog tours are designed to help give authors and their books a boost, so if the book isn’t your cup of tea, we politely ask to just post a blurb/extract instead of a bad review.
However, if you simply do not want to be a part of the tour, please let us know with as much notice in advance so we can find a solution.
9. Do I get a physical copy or a digital copy?
We offer physical and digital copies. However, this is dependent on what our authors and publishers offer us. So it will vary depending on the tour. When we send out an email invite for a TBN Blog Tour, on the email, it will specify what format we have for the specific tour. As a mandatory guideline, we appreciate if everyone signing up will accept both digital and physical copies since we cannot guarantee that everyone will be offered physical copies.
10. Can I refer The Book Network to another blogger?
Yes, of course! We would love that.
We will do our best to provide you with everything you need at least 3 weeks before the tour starts. If there is anything else you need or require, please do not hesitate to ask.
We will do our best to make everything go as smoothly as possible.
Thank you,
The Book Network Team
