ELOPE: A Modern Elopement Guide for the Free Spirited and Adventurous - Sherry Martin Peters

Sherry's childhood was nothing short of extraordinary. As an MK (missionary kid), she spent her formative years in a boarding school between Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, Bolivia. At the tender age of ten, her everyday adventures included frolicking in shallow riverbanks, learning Spanish, conversing with her parents over the CB radio, or hopping rides in Cessna airplanes to visit her parents in the jungle. This unconventional upbringing ignited a passion for independence and a thirst for global exploration, eventually propelling her toward a career as an international flight attendant with a major U.S. airline. Sherry's path shifted after the World Trade Center tragedy in NYC. She seized the opportunity to attend California's renowned Brooks Institute of Photography, channeling her love for the art of photojournalism. Long before adventure elopements became trendy, Sherry was already framing love stories against the breathtaking backdrops in places such as Glacier National Park. However, it wasn't until her elopement in 2013 that the pieces truly fell into place. Merging her passions for travel and photography, she uncovered her niche: capturing the beauty of far-flung destinations while celebrating love. With the shifting tides of tradition, elopements shed their former stigma, and Sherry found herself a trailblazer of the "adventure elopement" movement as it surged in popularity. With a wealth of experience in photographing unconventional brides, she embarked on a labor of love — this very book — a passion project to share what she knows best: Elopements, Destination Weddings, Adventure, and Travel Beyond her photographic pursuits, Sherry, a bohemian wedding dress enthusiast, curates a dazzling dress rental collection featuring breathtaking boho wedding dresses and colorful gowns, perfect for dreamy photoshoots, maternity shoots, and engagements. Collaborating with skilled seamstresses across the globe, she also crafts custom-made boho wedding gowns for her discerning clients. Her collective talent is grouped into one main theme: The Wild Love Collective. Sherry's story is a testament to a life lived boldly and passionately. She lives north of Boston, MA, happily married to her long love, Chris. Sherry is on the Board of an orphanage in Haiti, Diakonos International, Inc., where she and her husband sponsor 3 children. She has been putting the eldest child through high school and is working with the Board to move the entire orphanage to the United States.
