Phil Carter and The Guardians of Marva Springs - Charlie Akins

Charlie Akins has always had a passion for storytelling. From a young age, he found something magical in weaving tales, especially when animals played a central role. He is fortunate to live in a picturesque part of Virginia, where he enjoys exploring the outdoors and capturing its beauty through photography. The soothing sound of the wind whispering through the trees and the tranquil charm of the lake never fail to inspire him. One of his favorite pastimes is kayaking with his rescue dog, a bond that reflects his deep belief that every creature deserves love and kindness. This belief shapes both his life and his writing. Just as he introduced Mr. Nutz, the rescued squirrel, in his stories, Charlie seeks to infuse his love for animals into his work. As he wrote Phil Carter and The Guardians of Marva Springs, Charlie found a personal connection with the main character, Phil. Growing up, he often felt out of place, much like Phil. He fondly remembers the time his father brought home a baby squirrel he found while mowing the lawn, and how they shared that little creature during show-and-tell at school. In all his writing, Charlie aims to remind readers of their power to create positive change. With Phil Carter and The Guardians of Marva Springs, he hopes to offer a tale filled with adventure and magic, where true strength comes from love, friendship, and the willingness to help one another.
