Dakota Brotten was born and raised in Central Virginia. He moved around five times in high school to keep up with his military father and eventually started to get into trouble. Towards the end of high school he was sent to live with his mother while she was working in Kuwait, and came back a year later. He struggled for years and finally obtained a diagnosis of bipolar type 1.
