Sunflowers and Butterflies Dancing in the Dark - Kai Amber

Kai Amber is a 38 year old nonbinary (they/them) former customer service agent turned writer. My mom guides me through butterflies and I write about it. These moments help me in retaining and regaining hope through mental health crisis. They are also carrying me through my current bout of homelessness at a Women's Shelter during pregnancy.

My poem is a collection of poems mostly centered around retaining and regaining hope in periods of mental health crisis or just hardships in general. The themes typically focus on the sunflower and butterfly, specifically growth and weathering the storms. The butterfly is especially significant to me personally as the butterfly was my mother's favorite animal. My mom passed of COPD in 2016 and sends me butterflies from above to motivate and inspire me to keep going when times get too hard.
