The Land Beyond the River - Susan Phillips
Susan grew up in Wisconsin before enlisting in the Air Force. Following her service, she charted a career within USA Petroleum and later transitioned to Atlantic Richfield/ARCO as a representative for franchise and convenience store owners. Transitioning from the corporate world, she earned a master’s degree from United Theological Seminary. Over the past 25 years, she has shared her knowledge at Ozarks Technical Community College in World Religions. Susan explored human thought, and existential questions of moral, ethical, and religious ideals. Her exploration wasn't limited to an ancient world but to the parallels in modern society and culture with implications for the future. Her teaching style inspired her own reflections and sparked a flame, which grew into the world of writing. Susan's commitment extends beyond academics and serves as an active member of the Vietnam and Ozarks Veterans Coalition, where she served as Chaplain and current Secretary helping veteran families in need. She is also a Women’s Legion Post 1214 member with a dedication to service. In essence, Susan’s life has been woven with threads of service, teaching, and a commitment to bettering her community.
