The Six Macs and The Bell of Souls - David J Dawkins

David’s career started as a chef eventually running an outside catering business, before owning a French restaurant called Cafe Lalique. He then studied glass and ceramics at Plymouth Art College before graduating from Farnham Art College in Three Dimensional Glass. During his time at college David took up writing poetry. He started writing stories after adopting a stray cat who used to sit amongst pheasants in his garden, whom he named Puss. His first story was called “Puss The Wuss Looses His Meow.” This book is unpublished, but he hopes to publish it soon. David is a practicing ceramic artist who makes quirky Pop Art www.davdjdawkins.art he also works as a chef for three months of the year because he enjoys cooking. He has serious concerns about climate change and the loss of our natural world. These three books are about the adventures of six Scottish children called “The Six Macs,” with each book having an environmental theme, where some of his concerns about the way we treat our world are aired. The environmental messages in his books are very light, making his books fun to read.

After surviving a plane crash, The Six Macs find themselves in a snowy Himalayan wilderness where they discover the village of a secretive mountain tribe who show them a way to a temple run by Kung Fu Nuns. The Nuns tell them that while they were mending the tribe's precious Bell of Souls, it was stolen from them by English travellers. After a dangerous journey to base camp, the Six Macs find the bell and begin their adventure to return it to the hidden tribe.
